Pretty Good, I suck at photoshop , but i don't quite understand what's going on over the eyes.

I don't blame you. I'M even confused. Actually, it was meant to be an eyebrow. The original image got screwed over due to a photoshop crash, and I, being a lazy git, quickly painted in my crappy interpretation of an eyebrow. You see, the eyebrow used to be a thin black line, which I thought was unfit for the rest of the piece. Oh well. I've learned my lesson. =D Background was very fun, however.

May I recommend "Successful Drawing" by Andrew Loomis. You can get it from fineart.sk and I am sure you would find it very useful.

The composition is bothering me a bit -- you cut the picture off at his (her?) neck, which makes ME feel beheaded. Try not to crop people off right at joints (e.g. neck, elbow, knees etc).

The shading also seems off. For example, the front of his neck shouldn't be so bright, especially when the underside of his jaws is shaded dark. His chin should be casting a shadow on the neck, you know

I have a suggestion: study and draw real people! Not from photographs, but the real people in front of your eyes. Do quick (1-5 minutes, 10 minutes max) drawings of them every day and try to get the feel of what the human body is like. It will help you immensely, even if your primary style is anime.

Thank you! I found your critique very helpful. ^_^ I do like to do studies of real people. This painting is from just a few months ago. I'll try to p ut up works of realistic portraits, as my main style is not just anime. I love realism. Also, thanks for pointing out the shading; I didn't realize it until you had said anything!
